M.E. Baker Brings SmartAutoTM to Your iPhone, iPod or iPad
SOUTHBOROUGH, MA — September 2011 — M.E. Baker announces a new advanced technology that brings SmartAutoTM to your Apple device. By combining the ProSoft i-View app from iTunes with the customized configuration files and Wi-Fi access supplied with your control system, these devices can be transformed into mobile human machine interfaces (HMI), enabling live monitoring of process control data for engineers and plant floor operators.
Prosoft Technology Inc. developed an app for these devices that M.E. Baker has integrated into its control systems. SmartAutoTM wirelessly connects directly to the programmable logic controller (PLC) without routing through servers or personal computers, using direct TCP/IP links between an Apple device and the control systems' PLC. Security is guaranteed through extensive use of passwords as well as the encryption and tunneling options that the TCP/IP and 802.11 technologies provide.
ProSoft iView displays live values in stylized lists and includes user-established variance allowances with alarms, including local notifications. Controls and data displays are color-coded based on the value. Engineers can monitor these variables in real-time and make adjustments on-the-fly from any of these devices. This also is an invaluably helpful tool for maintenance personnel who can have the data they need in hand to troubleshoot controls and devices on the machine even from remote locations, making it possible to diagnose problems before leaving the maintenance shop.
SmartAutoTM includes a Wi-Fi access point in the control system plus all necessary custom PLC programming and configuration files needed by the ProSoft app to interface with the control system and instructions to set up a device, modify and create menus and add users.
Live PLC data can be viewed and changed through local (802.11/WiFi) or remote cellular enhanced security using the device's built-in 802.11 WAP/WAP2 256 bit encryption. Additional features include multi-user level accounts — if the username and password are not known, access is denied; live trending that allows users to trend and graph live tag values based on one, two and 10 minute intervals; and the ability to interface to multiple machines on the same device for plant-wide automation control. The device also can be used as a barcode reader (if this feature is required in your control system).
ProSoft i-View is a mobile iPhone/iPod touch/iPad application that allows for remote monitoring and control of process values within an EtherNet/IP and/or Modbus TCP/IP network, using a wireless 802.11 (WiFi) and/or cellular network connection.1
SmartAutoTM, the wet process equipment application software for the i-View app, is offered at $9952. SmartAutoTM is compatible with any brand of wet process equipment.
SmartAutoTM is compatible with any Allen Bradley or Modbus-based PLC (Schneider Electric, Automation Direct, Phoenix Contact, Wago, etc.) Contact us for more information.
1 ProSoft i-View provides an interface for accessing and monitoring variables (tags) and memory of PLCs. Plant engineers, PAC/PLC software developers and maintenance personnel now have the ability for live monitoring and control of PAC/PLC-based systems at any time, from anywhere. ProSoft i-View wirelessly connects directly to the PLC without routing through servers or personal computers, using direct TCP/IP links between iPhones/iPods and PLCs, with minimal configuration. Security is guaranteed through extensive use of passwords as well as the encryption and tunnelling options that the TCP/IP and 802.11 technologies provide.
2 Price is per user and includes all configured software files required to run ProSoft i-View with up to 128 data points but does not include the iTunes application. Additional users configured at $49 each and additional data points available at $99 per 16 data points. The ProSoft i-View app is now available in iTunes for $149.99.
